Weekly Wrap-Up: Novel Newcomers and Almost Freedom

Lupe wasn’t kidding yesterday about finals week coming up – we can almost taste the freedom right at the edge of our tongues… after going through a few hurdles of course. We know them as finals.

Meanwhile, Novel Newcomers is coming back next year! I’m co-hosting with Clo from Cuppa Clo and we can’t wait to get this feature back on the road once more. If you’re a book blogger who started in 2017 or 2018, we’d love to feature you!

This Week’s Posts

Book Haul

Wow, what a haul.

  • Last of Her Name by Jessica Khoury (ARC) – I got this in the mail the other day and wowowow I’m definitely reading this during winter break.
  • Pretend She’s Here by Luanne Rice (ARC) – I got this in the mail the day after the Last of Her Name came and I’m kind of curious?
  • Descendant of the Crane by Joan He (Netgalley) – I won’t be reading this during winter break, but I am super excited to dive into this, probably right before spring break.
  • Project Canvas edited by Caroline Meek and Olivia Rogers – My copies came! Then my mom took a copy and proceeded to look for me. (She kept the copy, too.)
  • Artemis Fowl: The Graphic Novel by Eoin Colfer – I’m putting that Kindle Unlimited deal to use, friends.
  • All is Fair by Dee Garretson (Netgalley) – I forgot I signed up for the blog tour.

Reading Life

In the past few weeks, I started Return to Dyatlov Pass by J.H. Moncrieff but then got distracted by #Starstruck by Sariah Wilson which I finished the other day. I started and finished Artemis Fowl: The Graphic Novel and then attempted to continue Return to Dyatlov Pass. Let me tell you, reading about the incident that happened around 1959 is creepy.

Real and Blogging Life

Clo wants her soul to be kidnapped on the blog indefinitely as a co-blogger, so maybe we’ll figure out a nice schedule after procrastinating a million times. Or maybe we’ll wing it, who knows.

Meanwhile, I’m just going to roll right back into the study, presentations and finals cave. If you see me peeping out of that cave by next Sunday and in the wild, it means I’ve survived.

  2. Ooh a new Jessica Khoury book! I hope that’s good. I’m a little behind on her stuff. And good luck with finals!! I hope they go swimmingly for you guys and then you can relax and enjoy break!!!

  5. I’m not a college blogger, but I am a high school teacher and I know my students are just trying to hang on until exams and break!! Hang in there!

  6. I mean I think we’ll have a healthy mixture of winging it and scheduling it, because it’s us and we’re known for doing both well xD Finals suck, makes me so thankful I’m not having to do exams for my college course wheeeee.

  8. Good luck with finals! I don’t miss those! Haha. I’ve felt very blah this week, and I’m not looking forward to the craziness of December. It goes by too quickly, and I feel like I don’t have enough time to just enjoy the last month of the year.

    1. Aww, although that is definitely true. Anytime before December and it feels so slow but when you finally get here, it flies by so quickly! I won’t miss finals when I graduate, haha.

  9. Best of luck with your finals! I remember how stressful the week can be. I’ve got the freelancer’s equivalent this week: a project due sooner than immediately, with a fair bit of work still to go. At least we have vacation to look forward to. πŸ™‚

    1. Same, Lauren, same. I love being able to see books come to life in graphic format – sometimes it’s a good trip down memory lane without rereading everything.

  16. It’s great you got an ARC of Descendant of the Crane, I try not to use Netgalley because I’m much more into reading in print this year. Good luck with finals, I was always at peak stress when I had to deal with those.

  19. Novel Newcomers seems like a really good challenge. Unfortunately, I’ve already got so many challenges I’m participating in that I don’t think I’ll be able to participate in this one. But I wish you luck in your hosting!
